BISI YUSUF, ADEBANJO COSTLIEST POLITICAL ERROR

It is extremely tragic how a group of political figures, including Bisi Yusuf, Femi Adebanjo, Abiodun Ejigbadero, and Adunni Akindele of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently orchestrated a criminal assault on the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, at the party's state headquarters in Acme, Ikeja.

This unfortunate incident has ignited widespread condemnation from all political quarters, culminating in a recent press release by the Lagos State APC, which has strongly denounced the misconduct and vowed to take severe action against the offenders.

In a similar event, the newly formed movement ASM had staged a protest that drew considerable sympathy and was rewarded by the party hierarchy. The unfortunate group, who derived their sinister plan from ASM's "protest and get it" strategy, faced a deadly downfall that sparked outrage from the State Party Executives, the Aworis, the Body of Past APC State Chairmen in Lagos State, the APC National Executive Committee, and many others. The orchestrators faced instant "judgment."

Over the years, the political structure of the APC has never tolerated any form of nuisance. Many now follow the path of the ASM, seeking recognition under a new political regime, aiming only to secure positions or benefits in the appointment process.

Sadly, Bisi Yusuf, Femi Adebanjo, and Abiodun Ejigbadero, who had long been top beneficiaries of the party's rewards, failed in their greedy endeavors. Each had occupied influential positions that provided continuous benefits, but their actions have now led to political ruin. They now carry a dented C.V.

The Body of 57 APC Local Government Area (LGA) Chairmen and the Body of 374 Ward Chairmen collectively condemned the attack. Representing the grassroots strength of the party, their statements underscored the widespread disapproval of the violence.

Adding their voices to the chorus of condemnation, the Body of Past APC State Chairmen in Lagos State called for stringent sanctions against the responsible members. Their stance is rooted in a desire to uphold the party’s integrity and ensure that the rule of law prevails.

“Disciplining those responsible is essential to preserving our unity and credibility,” they declared, emphasizing the long-term implications for the party.

The Path Forward

The assault on Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi has brought to the forefront the challenges facing the APC in Lagos State. As the party navigates this crisis, the unanimous call for justice and disciplinary action highlights a broader commitment to democratic values.
