ADEBANJO UNDER EFCC INVESTIGATION OVER ₦1 BILLION WORTH CONSTITUENCY ITEMS

 

The immediate past 2-terms House of Representatives member, representing Alimosho Federal constituency, Hon Olufemi Adebanjo aka Eyes Open is now under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC investigation, following his non-disclosure of some items and training supports meant for his constituents.

According to a reliable source with document attached, the items and training supports worth over N500Million naira were delivered to him at about 90 days to the expiration of the 9th National Assembly around March 2023.

The items and training supports include the following:

1. Agricultural training for Youth and Women - N24, 666, 666

2. Supply of motorcycle - N30, 000, 000

3. Supply of Toyota bus and tricycle - N50, 000, 000

4. Purchase of 6 cylinder trucks of Toyota Hilux - N50, 000, 000

5. Training on fish farming - N50, 000, 000

6. Training and empowerment of Youth - N10, 000, 000

7. Construction and installation of solar street light - N500, 000, 000

The EFCC stepped in following a report sent to them that none of the above listed items and training supports were received by the constituents.

Further investigation revealed that Hon Adebanjo has been receiving similar items in the past. He received about N500m of items at the end of the 8th National Assembly as well and none was disclosed.

As a cover-up in 2022, he organised an empowerment program where he distributed some of thess items that has stayed too long in his safe house. He distributed 3 tricycles, 6 motorcycle, 20 hairdryers, 20 grinding machine and 300 bags of rice, this is one of his desperate moves in the bid to secure third term in office.

A repeat of this gesture also took place few weeks ago at the unveiling of Alimosho Mandate Frontiers where 6 motorcycles and 1 tricycle was again distributed. This still less than N5Million.

Constituents are alarmed that Hon Adebanjo popularly known as 'Eyes Open" diverted N1Billion, which is the one year budget of some Councils in the constituency. Yet a total worth of over a Billion naira items has been delivered to him and diverted for personal use.

Hon Olufemi Adebanjo aka EyesOpen was the House of Representatives in Alimosho Federal constituency between 2015 to 2019 and was returned again between 2019 and 2023. His 3rd bid led him to path ways with the Alimosho Mandate Movement (The Mainstream) under the leadership of Abdullahi Enilolobo to join a political rival HE Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire. 

He again left HE Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire due to the greediness and insensitivity of the later. Since then, he has been running from pillar to post to establish another faction in Alimosho federal constituency.
