ASSAULT ON APC CHAIRMAN: SILENCE OF LAGOS LAWMAKERS, OBASA COMPLICITY

By The Awori Patriots

The incident which took place on Monday, 24 June, 2024  at the Lagos Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi JP, state  Chairman of the party was harassed, abused and physically assaulted by some alleged party members is still fresh in the minds of not only Lagosians but also Nigerians in general.

The alleged party members not only abused, harassed and assaulted Ojelabi, they even went ahead to record their thuggery on video and had the guts to share it on social media.

In the video, they call the party Chairman unprinted names and were seen dragging him, while they even had the gut to remove his cap.

Many have condemned the act and as the time writing this, the party is on the verge of wielding the big sticks.

It's a shame and disheartening that the ring leaders of these unscrupulous elements are both former lawmakers: one of them, Hon Bisi Yusuf spent three consecutive terms at the Lagos State House of Assembly; the other Hon Femi Adebanjo after spending a term in the House of Assembly, spent another two terms in the House of Representatives. Suffice to add that both were former Council Chairmen. h

Tese are people who have benefitted well from the party, but they became ingrates believing that the only way they can repay the party was to assault the symbol of the party. What a shame!

Don't forget that Ojelabi himself was a former lawmaker at the national level (Ojo Federal Constituency), hence, two former lawmakers leading a bunch of scroundels to assault the party symbol was the highest form of indiscipline by any member.

To add salt to the jury, they were not remoseful, according to one of them whose tone and accent belies expectation said they were struggling to acquire power. Must you do this illegally? Our man has no answer.

In all of these, many were waiting for the reaction of the state lawmakers who were the major beneficiaries of the party in the state.

None of the members of the Assembly, either collectively or individually, had come out openly to condemn the barbaric act.

They kept mute. Their choir leader and choir master, Rt Hon Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, kept his mouth shut.

It is obvious. The people that attacked Ojelabi are Obasa's loyalists. It is an open secret that Obasa plays his politics in Agege but wants to open a political 'garrison' command at Alimosho federal constituency, with the appointment of Mosan Okunola LCDA APC Chairman Adunni Akindele as a Senior Special Assistant in his Office and Abiodun Ejigbadero as one of his prime hangers on. Akindele and Ejigbadero were also part of the individuals who physically mobilized and led the hired thugs who assaulted and brulalized Ojelabi.

He detailed these four agents of his: Yusuf, Adebanjo, Akindele and Ejigbadero to usurp The Mandate Movement leadership body in Alimosho federal constituency: a move that was firmly resisted by members, officers and leaders of the Movement in the constituency, by the affirmation of Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo as The Mandate Movement Chairman in Lagos State.

What happened on 24 June, 2024, was the voice of Esau but the hands of Jacob.

Obasa had taken over the Assembly and ruling it like his personal fiedom, the major reason none of them could come out openly to condemn the barbaric act on the symbol of the party which gave them ticket.

Obasa an Egba man from Abeokuta Ogun State has never hidden his disdain for Ojelabi a blue blood Awori man from Lagos State, just because the APC Chairman is not dancing to his tunes. He once described Ojelabi as 'Sanwo-olu's Chairman and not APC Chairman'. He undermines the man at will.

Yet this the same man saying it's his time to take over as the Governor of Lagos State after Sanwo-Olu.

He has been telling his people that there is money, he will outspent anybody that rivals him.

However, he has forgotten that the ultimate power lies with the people of Lagos, and the party.

Lagosians won't forget this assault on the Chairman; Aworis won't forget this attack on their son; APC won't forget this harassment on its symbol.

Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, we are waiting!
