BISI YUSUF, ADEBANJO, THUGS STORMS LAGOS APC SECRETARIAT, BRUTALIZE OJELABI

Chaos ensued at the Lagos State APC secretariat as Hon. Olufemi Bandele Adebanjo, a former House of Representatives member for Alimosho federal constituency, and Hon. Bisi Yusuf, a former Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA) member for Alimosho constituency 1, led a group of hoodlums to the location. During the incident, the group assaulted Lagos State APC chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.

In response to the incident, the Lagos State APC spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo, issued a statement clarifying the situation. He described the event as "a storm in a teacup" and emphasized Chairman Ojelabi's continuous efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among party members across the state. The meeting at the secretariat was intended to reconcile different party factions within Alimosho local government area but was unfortunately disrupted by uninvited thugs with ulterior motives.

Hon. Oladejo expressed gratitude to the security agencies for promptly bringing the situation under control and reaffirmed the party's commitment to maintaining discipline and cohesion. He highlighted that the success of the progressives in Lagos State is attributed to responsive governance and strict adherence to party discipline. He also noted that the APC has a robust mechanism for dispute resolution and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action if necessary.

Taiwo Amos, a social and political commentator, also reacted to the incident, attributing the actions of Adebanjo and Yusuf to "political withdrawal syndrome."

Amos noted that the duo and their followers, who claim loyalty to Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku (Baba Eto), are aware that the current political situation in the state does not favor them, as they have not demonstrated the electoral value they claim to possess.

He condemned the humiliation of the state chairman, calling it an embarrassment for the state, especially since it is where President Bola Tinubu hails from. He urged the party to establish a disciplinary committee to address the actions of those involved to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Amos applauded the police officers who provided security for Chairman Ojelabi and called on the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to ensure adequate security for the APC state chairman to prevent future incidents.

Amos concluded by acknowledging the role of protests in a democratic society but stressed that they must be conducted within acceptable norms and without infringing on the rights of others.
