With what must have been a feeling of fulfilment: for an action that now represents a complete embarrassment, and an invitation to breach of public peace in Alimosho federal constituency, which comprising of six local councils; the most populous constituency in Nigeria with population above two million residents.
Senior Special Adviser to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, SDG, HE Hon Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire has released a total of 90 bags of rice to the six LGA/LCDAs in the constituency for onward distribution to residents.
While Madam SDG must be feeling fulfilled and elated for giving rice to the consttitients, in this period of economic downturn, and to All Progressives Congress, APC members in particular: a gesture coming from her for the first time, since she got to the Office about nine years ago: party leaders and members are in a dilemma on how to equitably distribute the consignment of 90 bags of 50Kg rice among tens of thousands of members and millions of constituents.
With a conservative estimates of 12,000 regular party meeting attendance in the six councils that make the constituency. Each LGA/LCDA will get 15 bags, to be divided between 2000 members. This is keeping Madam SDG rice exclusively among party members.
The 15 bags will give a total of 900 "De Rica modu" at 60 "De Rica modu" per bag, each member will only get 2 cups of the rice when distributed. The concerns of members is how these Adefulire Orelope 2 cups of rice will impact them positively.
While many members have asserted that they are not interested in the rice embarrassment, constituents will not believe that they just got 2 cups apiece, others said it is sad that despite the number of years she has spent as SSA on SDG, and the billions of naira interventionist budget under her purview, she seems to think that she isn't responsible for the party members at all, and as result she gives only when she has an agenda. This is particularly both insignificant and annoying.
The party hierarchy is at loss on how to carry stakeholders groups such as religious bodies, artisans, disabled, market men and women, traditional bodies and community development associations and councils, along when the pittance sent by Orelope Adefulire cannot even suffice for party officers not to talk of members.
