AIYEDATIWA OPERATES FROM DEPUTY GOV'S OFFICE

 

Three weeks into his tenure as Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has opted to operate from his former deputy governor's office instead of the governor's office at the Government House in Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.

Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office on December 27, 2023, following the demise of the late former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, is gradually settling into the responsibilities of governing.

In his inaugural address, the new governor pledged to continue the initiatives of his predecessor and expressed his commitment to inclusivity by involving all stakeholders in his administration.

Following his swearing-in, he reportedly met with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, who subsequently advised him to reorganize the All Progressives Congress in the state before selecting a deputy governor.

Sources reveal that the governor is currently in the process of consulting to determine his deputy, considering candidates from either the central or northern senatorial districts of the state. Despite officially assuming his duties, Aiyedatiwa has been utilizing his former deputy governor's office for official matters.

An inside source at the Governor's Office disclosed that as of Friday, the governor had not transitioned to the main governor's office and was not using the Government House.

The source added, "The governor has been coming to the office, but he has been using his old deputy governor's office to operate and receive visitors. He has yet to occupy the state government house."

"The only place he uses in the Government House is the Presidential Lodge, where he receives visitors. The governor's residential lodge has not been used by the governor."

When questioned, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, acknowledged that the presidential lodge was being used for receiving visitors and that some areas were undergoing renovation."

He explained, "The governor has been using the Government House; he receives visitors at the presidential lodge. Others are undergoing renovation."

"Very soon, everything will be alright. The new building in the Government House is nearing completion, and he might be using it there. The main governor's office too is under renovation; after the renovation, the governor will move in."
