FG ALERTS ON FAKE ₦50,000 CHILD SUPPORT SCHEME WEBSITE

Federal government has alerted the public of the existence of a fake child support scheme website encouraging parents to tap into a ₦50,000 fund for children in Nigeria.

Warning parents to stay a way from the bogus scheme, suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, is advertised to be connected with the fraudulent scheme and accompanying links are fake and did not emanate from the ministry.

Excerpts from a statement signed by Special Adviser on Media, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Rasheed Zubair reads.

“All social intervention schemes of the ministry are well documented in the public domain and are brought to the notice of Nigerians through proper channels.”

The statement notes that the so-called ‘Child Support Scheme’ is fake and is not part of the ministry’s schemes.

“The general public is hereby alerted that undesirable elements whose sole agenda is to mislead and defraud unsuspecting Nigerians are behind the fake scheme advertisement and the link.

“While security agents have swung into action to unmask the unpatriotic elements behind the intended scam, Nigerians are advised to ignore the link to avoid being defrauded of their hard-earned money.”
