In the aftermath of Saturday's keenly contested governorship primary in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has extended his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for fostering an enabling atmosphere that facilitated a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
Governor Aiyedatiwa conveyed his appreciation during his acceptance speech shortly after emerging as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer for the upcoming November 16 governorship election in the state.
The primary, conducted under the supervision of Ahmed Usman Ododo, Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee for Ondo State and Governor of Kogi, culminated in Aiyedatiwa's resounding victory.
According to Ododo, Aiyedatiwa secured 48,569 votes, decisively defeating his closest rival, Mr. Mayowa Akinfolarin, who garnered 15,343 votes out of the 95,178 valid votes cast.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed profound gratitude to the national and state working committees of the APC for their commitment to ensuring that the "best candidate emerged" as the party's standard-bearer.
He also commended his fellow contestants for their exemplary sportsmanship and called for unity within the party to secure victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
