COURT ORDERED DETENTION OF BINANCE EXECUTIVE IN PRISON

An Abuja's Federal High Court on Monday, has ordreded that a Binance executive named Tigran Gambaryan be detained in the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the decision on his bail request.

The presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, issued the remand order after Gambaryan pleaded not guilty to money laundering charges brought against him by Nigeria's anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The judge scheduled a verdict on his bail application for April 18 and set May 2 as the trial commencement date.

The Nigerian government had filed a case against Binance Holdings Limited and its executives, Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla (who is currently evading authorities), over accusations of tax evasion and money laundering.

It was reported that Anjarwalla, Gambaryan's associate, had escaped from Nigerian custody three weeks ago.
