President Bola Tinubu is set to launch the National Student Loan Programme on Thursday, March 14, 2024, as revealed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, during a segment of TVC’s Politics on Sunday.
This historic initiative is part of the President's ongoing welfare initiatives and is aimed at providing significant relief to Nigerian families and young people during challenging times.
The launch of this program follows the signing of the Access to Higher Education Act, 2023, by President Tinubu on June 12, 2023.
This act enables underprivileged students to access interest-free loans for their educational pursuits in any Nigerian tertiary institution, fulfilling a campaign promise to expand the funding of education.
The establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, as outlined in the Students Loan Law, will oversee the processing, allocation, and recovery of these educational loans, further demonstrating the government's commitment to enhancing access to higher education for all Nigerian citizens
