OSIMHEN EXPLAINS WHY HE WEARS FACE MASK

Nigerian-born goal machine Victor Osimhen has explained why he wears face mask to the field.

Iy all began when he received a bad knock to the face during a game against Inter Milan in November 2021. Since then, he has been playing with a special mask, which fans have come to recognise him by.

Speaking on Brilla FM while away on national duty with Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations, Osimhen explained why the mask is now required.

He admitted that despite wearing the mask, things got messy in a recent match against Cagliari. “When I headed the ball, I had blood on my face, and the custodian also hit my face, and there was blood even with the mask on,” the player said.

Osimhen is not taking any chances. He mentioned having screws in his jaws and face from a previous injury, which is why he is still wearing the mask. “I must wear the mask for the rest of my career because I have screws that go through my jaws and face. I still have them right now,” he explained.
