BRITISH COUNCIL HIKES IELTS FEE, NIGERIANS TO PAY N139,000.

The British Council in Nigeria has announced a 29% increase in fees for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examinations, effective February 1, 2024.

According to the notice published on the council's website, applicants will now be required to pay N139,000 for the Computer Academic and General Training Modules.

IELTS is widely recognized globally as proof of language proficiency for non-native English speakers.

The British Council attributed the fee adjustment to the rising costs associated with conducting the examinations.

The notice stated, "The change in price is associated with the increased costs of the delivery of our exams.

This will enable us to continue to offer a wide range of services and comprehensive support to enable you to achieve your goals."

This marks the second fee increase in five months, following the adjustment in September 2023 when the fees were raised from a range of N80,000 to N90,000 to the new rate of N107,500.

The British Council expressed gratitude to candidates for choosing their services despite the adjustments in fees.
