"MY POLITICS IS SELFLESS" - "AZEEZAT OMO OWO"

In this interview with Supervisor for Budget and Planning Ayobo Ipaja LCDA.... Hon Mrs Azeezat Damilola Owonla-Odubajo, she anchored her participation in politics on the communal call to serve the people..... Excerpts

MT: *Give a brief introduction of your person in areas of biodata, education and career paths ?*

I am Mrs Azeezat Damilola Owonla-Odubajo. I am happily married with children, my home means everything to me, I am into business and politics. I am currently the Supervisor for Budget and Planning Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA and

also General Secretary Lagos State Supervisors and SA's Forum.

I graduated from Ekiti State University: with honours in Guidance and Counseling Education. I recently completed my masters degree in Public Administration at the Lagos State University.  I was school administrator and I hold dear this experience of managing a school to heart.

MT: *What informed your decision to join partisan politics ?*

I have been known for my charitable practices and empowerments to further better the lives of people around me and beyond: then one day I got a visit by some All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftains in my community, they came to encourage me to spread the good will to the party in other to reach more beneficiaries. And thereafter it's been a joy ride. I bought totally and I am completely sold into the mission and vision of the party, from local government to state and to the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

MT: *You are popular with non Yoruba residents of your immediate constituency how were you able to achieve this feat ?*

MY popularity spread across all tribes, not just amongst the non Yoruba, but generally. The non yoruba just stands out because I mostly preach unity and synergy and they find me easily accessible and approachable. For me irrespective of our tribes or tongues, it's better to work together as constituents, in other move to the promise land at a faster pace. I belong to everybody, I build prosperity for all.

MT: *You have being very proactive in networking beyond APC Alimosho federal constituency, how did you achieve this and what are the deliverables this has attracted to the constituency ?*

ONE thing about me is that I like adventures, I like to learn and experience new things, this trait gives me the opportunity to leave my comfort zone to other spheres, the fact that I am the General Secretary for All Lagos State Supervisors and SA's makes it easier to navigate, interact and learn from other LGA's and has exposed me to different situations that have in one way or the other shaped my political network and stature.

It's been a positive feedbacks so far as I have been able to bring some laudable empowerments to my community due to this.

MT: *You are one of the few Supervisors in Alimosho federal constituency that gives back consistently to the constituents. May we know why, the list of these projects, how you raised the funds and how much have gone into these projects ?*

SMILES... This is just pure grace. I have lost counts of empowerment and small projects I have done, the reason is not far fetched, I feel fulfilled when I put smiles on people's face, I mostly feel this deep joy knowing I am able to help people in my own little way.

I mostly raise money from returns on my businesses. I will not want to go into how much. These projects can be evaluated independently.

Some of the empowerment initiatives includes the donation of ultra modern borehole for Ayobo-Ipaja community, distribution of 200 NCE scholarships to students in Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA. Hunger relief cash donation to 100 people, food items and cash donation to party members for festivities, school kits donation to 100 pupils in Baruwa Ward-E Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA.

One year school fees scholarship to 10 primary school pupils in Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA. Regular meal and drinks distributions to less privileges and needy in Egbeda and Iyana Ipaja. There are lot more I can't remember.

MT: *As the Supervisor for Budget and Planning under the Hon Chief Bola Shobowale administration, what should the residents of Ayobo Ipaja LCDA look forward to in 2024 ?*

Only God knows tomorrow, but the APC administration led by our Council Chairman and mother Hon Chief Mrs Bola Shobowale administration have never failed the people and she won't start now. On my part I will definitely put in more work and always make sure my constituents get the dividends of democracy.

MT: *How do you blend home management, business management and political management together ?*

IT is not an easy task: but I am greatful to God for a loving and understanding partner, my husband is my number one fan and always cheers for me, I appreciate him.

I have always been a business person so I mostly find a way to navigate home and businesses and now political responsibilities and also educational pursuits.

Basically it's been tough I must admit, a selfless, but also an interesting journey and it is worth it.
