"IT IS TIME FOR STATE POLICE" - GOV MAKINDE

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has strongly advocated for the establishment of state police, declaring it a necessary step to effectively address the myriad of security challenges plaguing various parts of Nigeria.

He expressed these views on Tuesday during a meeting with the Conference of Speakers of State Legislators, South-West Chapter, led by its chairman and Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye.

Governor Makinde highlighted the refusal of the Federal Government, a few years ago, to approve the South-West Governors’ demand for state police, which subsequently led to the creation of the Western Nigeria Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun.

Governor Makinde emphasized the need for the Federal Government to reconsider this crucial matter.

The visit by the regional speakers, which took place in the governor’s office in Ibadan, was primarily focused on the January 16 explosion in Bodija.
