BWALA ALLEGES PETER OBI’S PLAN TO LEAVE LP, JOIN EL-RUFAI

Daniel Bwala, former spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation, has claimed that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, is considering leaving the LP to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) alongside Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State.

Bwala made this allegation in a post on his social media handle, suggesting that Obi’s potential departure from the LP is due to ongoing conflicts between the party’s leadership and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Peter Obi, who previously served as Governor of Anambra State, had switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the LP in May 2023 ahead of the general elections.

In his post, Bwala mentioned, “Peter Obi @PeterObi allegedly planning to unite with El-rufai @elrufai in Social Democratic Party as Nigerian Labour Congress set to take ownership and custody of their political party, the @NgLabour.”

However, when reached for comment, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the Chief Spokesman for the Obi/ Datti Presidential Campaign, dismissed Bwala’s claim as untrue, stating it was “a figment of his imagination.”

Tanko stated, “Ordinarily, we wouldn’t respond to this fiction. he (Bwala) is a politician who wants to remain relevant in the scheme of things. We’ve responded to the false narrative of our leader leaving the Labour Party in the past, this position has not changed.”

Recently, Nasir El-Rufai was seen at the national secretariat of the Social Democratic Party in Abuja, as shown in a viral video during his visit to the national chairman of the SDP, Alhaji Shehu Gabam.

Notably, El-Rufai’s political activities had reduced after the Senate rejected his ministerial nomination in 2023. The Senate also declined to confirm the appointment of another ministerial nominee from Taraba State, Senator Abubakar Danladi, citing adverse security reports against them as reasons for their decision.

On 11 December 2023, El-Rufai visited former President Muhammadu Buhari.

On 14th December 2023, Elrufai visited Ibrahim Babangida Badamasi.

On 24th December 2023, El-Rufai visited former President Obasanjo.

On 21st March 2024, Elrufai pays a surprise visit to SDP secretariat in Abuja.

On 22nd March 2024, El-Rufai paid a visit to Senator Abdul Ningi.
